Education is a key value at Illuminate Landscape Designs. Our market is flooded with an array of different companies that offer outdoor lighting.
This day and age, you can have your lighting installed by your plumber, your air conditioning company, an electrical contractor, your landscaper or a host of other service providers. These companies added outdoor lighting to their lists of services to capture more market shares for their businesses.
Unfortunately, many of these companies have never spent any time educating themselves on lighting design and installation. Often times they use inferior, low-quality products in order to increase their bottom line. The old cliche , “You get what you pay for” holds true here.
At Illuminate, we love spending time with our customers in order to educate them on all aspects of the design and installation.
Last week, Fitz traveled to Danville, Virginia to attend Sterling Lighting’s 2023 Summit. Lighting Designers from all over the country gathered for a three-day summit that covered all aspects of outdoor lighting design & installation.
Landscape Lighting Pioneer & Author, Janet Lennox Moyer gave several sessions on using light as art in the landscape.
Award-winning lighting designer Eleftheria Deko, best known for her 2021 Lighting Design of the Acropolis in Greece attended to share her wealth of knowledge.
On day two, the participants were separated into one of four groups. Each group was assigned a different area of the Atkinson Farms property, where they would collectively come up with a lighting design for their area. Team work played an important part of the process. Each team spent two evenings fine tuning their design and installing the system for the final reveal on night three.
